An Illinois man wanted on multiple child sex charges in Coweta County is now behind bars.

Alexander Sean Gerbert was arrested and brought back to Coweta on Sunday, according to Maj. Jimmy Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office.

Gerbert, 38, is charged with aggravated sodomy, two counts of child molestation, child computer porn and aggravated sexual battery, according to Coweta County Jail records.

Gerbert was picked up by Illinois authorities but refused extradition, Yarbrough said, adding "We had to get a governor's warrant."

Yarbrough said the case, which stems back to 2010, involves two different girls, one was 9 years old and the other 15 at the time. Authorities first investigated after hearing allegations from the 9-year-old, which eventually led to another investigation involving the older girl.

Authorities also served search warrants on Gerbert's residence while he lived in Coweta County on Willington Way and found evidence used in the investigation that eventually led to a warrant being issued for Gerbert.

Gerbert had left Georgia and moved to Illinois.
