Heart Screens for Teens at Landmark

Heart Screens for Teens comes to Landmark Christian School Nov. 15.

Prompted by stories of promising young athletes and apparently healthy teens dying of undetected heart ailments, Ultrascan, Inc. teams with Children's Cardiovascular Medicine of Marietta, Ga., to offer an affordable, safe screening program to schools, sports teams, and other organizations interested in saving lives.

In reaction to the recent sudden heart-related death of Ryan Boslet, a 17-year-old Alpharetta, Ga., athlete, Mickey King Jr., founder of Georgia's largest mobile medical imaging service Ultrascan, Inc. recruited top cardiologists and echo technologists to work with its' state-of-the-art mobile ultrasound units screening student's hearts and detecting potentially fatal conditions that cannot be identified during routine physicals.

The echocardiogram exam is simple, safe, requires no preparation and takes only 10 to 15 minutes. Normally, the cost of this echocardiogram can range anywhere from $900 to $1,500 and is usually not covered by insurance. "Heart Screens for Teens," however, is able to provide this potentially life saving service for $58.
