What is the safest day for workers on the job?
Friday is the safest day on the job for state workers in Georgia. Monday is the second safest workday. That means it's the middle of the week when more job-related injuries are reported by state workers.
What's the source of this information? It comes from the Georgia Department of Administrative Services, which pays workers' claims when work-related injuries result in lost time.
The number of accidents reported on Friday is 30 percent less than those reported on Wednesday, which is the most dangerous day of the week, according to records for the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.
Why are Friday claims so low? State officials aren't certain, but because of some four-day work weeks fewer employees work on Fridays.
And what about safety in the private work force? No such claims figures are compiled according to the Georgia Workers Compensation Board.
