Councilman Jeff Fisher has been appointed to represent the Senoia City Council on the Senoia Downtown Development Authority.

The city council has a post on the DDA which rotates among the council members. Fisher was named to serve in that position for this year at the Monday meeting of the Senoia City Council.

At that meeting -- held at Senoia Magistrate Court -- Rachel Wood gave an update on DDA activities. Wood said the new welcome center is open Wednesday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

"We are hoping to extend our hours as we have more volunteers," she said. She said there also will be longer hours this summer when the second Southern Living Dream House in Senoia is open.

Wood said more than 40 volunteers were recognized at a volunteer appreciation reception.

Wood said the next DDA event will be the Memorial Day Parade on May 28. Mayor Robert Belisle announced other events -- including the Resurrection Run and Clean Up Senoia.

The Resurrection Run -- sponsored by Legacy Christian Church -- will be held March 17 starting at 8 a.m. Clean Up Senoia is scheduled for April 21.
