The 2007-2008 school year is coming to an end. Friday is the last day of classes for students in the Coweta County School System.
Graduation programs are scheduled at our three public high schools this week: Northgate 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Newnan 7:30 p.m. Friday, East Coweta 9 a.m. Saturday. Graduations will take place in the football stadiums at the three schools.
When classes end on Friday, students will begin their summer vacation. They will enjoy 74 days off before returning Aug. 6 for the first day of the new school year.
Graduates will say goodbye to their high school career. They may take a break before heading to college, technical school or the workplace.
Teachers will have workdays next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The teachers' new school year will include teacher workdays Aug. 1, 4 and 5 before students return on Aug. 6.
There's always excitement with the end of a school year. Students, teachers and parents welcome the break. Many will begin the summer vacation season as soon as classes end.
To all of our students, we say enjoy the summer. To our graduates, congratulations on your achievement -- continue your educational journey in college or in the workforce with a commitment to succeed. To our teachers, thank you for your commitment to our young people and their education.
