Newnan Police responded New Year's day to the Golden Corral restaurant on Bullsboro Drive and met Janice Hamilton of Fayetteville, who said her purse was missing.
According to a report by Officer Troy Flud, Hamilton said after she and her husband ate, she left the premises and forgot to take her purse, which was hanging on her chair. Hamilton said the Kate Spade purse was valued at $500 and contained $400 cash, several credit cards, gift cards, ID, prescription sunglasses and a Mont Blanc pen.
The following unrelated incidents were reported by the Newnan Police Department:
* On Jan. 1, Newnan Police officer Joseph Castro responded to 75 Fair St., Newnan, to meet with Tequila Herring, who had reported her car stolen. Herring said she had left the keys in the car while visiting her grandmother. The car is a 1994 Saturn 2-door, Ga. tag # ADG 5190.
n Officer Brian Hodges reported that on Jan. 1, he met with Shaneka Mack at her 15 E. Lake Drive residence. Mack said her boyfriend, Gary Carter, had kicked in her door. Officer Hodges confirmed the damage. Carter was found nearby, arrested and charged with criminal trespass and loitering.
* On Jan. 3, Robert L. Lee, of Lee-King Pharmacy on Cavender Street, reported that an unknown person had entered the store and attempted to obtain Oxycontin or Percocet without a prescription. After Lee told the man he could not get the drugs without a prescription, the man told Lee, "Well, I guess this is a stick-up. Yeah, this is a stick-up," according to the report. The man did not produce a weapon. After being advised several more times he should see a doctor and get a prescription, the unknown man left. He was described in the report as a white male, about 5-feet-9-inches tall with a skinny build in his early 40s and no facial hair.
* On Jan.5, officer Branton Chester was dispatched to the area near U.S. Hwy. 29 north and Newnan Bypass. According to the report, officer Chester stopped a car driven by Charles Vogt-Tidwell near Jekyll and Hyde's restaurant. A check showed Vogt-Tidwell's license was suspended for a 2007 DUI offense. Vogt-Tidwell was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended.
