All Saints Anglican Music Camp attracts 100

Music was in the air at All Saints Anglican Church.

The church in Peachtree City wrapped up its third annual Summer Music Camp on July 16 with 100 children receiving certificates of completion. The certificates were presented by Michael Fry, the rector at All Saints.

Parents and staff enjoyed an end-of-camp musical finale presented by the participants, ages 5-12. Music director Shannon Bryan led the children in songs they had learned including: "Praise To The Lord, The Almighty" and "All Creatures Of Our God and King." Several children recited Bible verses, while others accompanied songs with praise-dancing.

Bryan spearheaded the week-long potpourri of music, dancing, and instruction. She had the help of several guest musicians including Jeff Shephard, a professional guitarist and teacher. Another guest, Joel Haasenritter, pianist and piano expert, explained the workings of the piano to music camp participants.

A number of church volunteers supervised the children as they were introduced to a variety of other instruments including the trumpet, flute, harp, violin, keyboard and drum set. The children rotated between various labs, each of which featured a specific instrument. In the labs, the children learned how each instrument functioned and learned to identify its components.

Those attending were also invited to take part in a ministry for the needy by donating non-perishable food items. During break-times, fruit and vegetable snacks were available.

The camp was held on the church grounds.
