Coweta Military Notes: Allen, Smith, Kwak in the news

Army Pvt. Semaj Allen has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Allen is the son of Suzette Cox of Newnan. He is a 2012 graduate of Newnan High School.

Army Pvt. Shelina T. Smith has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Smith is the daughter of Nettye Hill of Newnan.

Army National Guard Spec. Hyun J. Kwak has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Kwak is the son of Young Kwak of Round Rock, Texas, and Jae Kwak of Neeses, S.C.

He is a 2000 graduate of Northgate High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2004 from Franciscan University, Steubenville, Ohio.
