White Oak Golden K Kiwanis Club recently heard a presentation from Joey Howard, manager of the classified and online services at The Newnan Times-Herald.

Howard’s presentation to the club was about the changes in the newspaper business in recent years and the measures taken by The Newnan Times- Herald to overcome the obstacles and remain a vibrant newspaper.

“The problem newspapers face is we no longer have a static readership or a readership that just waits for that morning newspaper to hit the driveway to get their news fix for the day,” said Howard.

He outlined how the paper tries to satisfy its dynamic customer base where many want their news in a variety of ways.

This is being done with a digital lineup that gives them four ways to reach customers online: the website ( times-herald.com ), the digital edition of the paper, Facebook and Twitter.

The website is the online foundation that averages 11,500 unique visitors a day and 1.4 million page views monthly, according to Howard.

White Oak Golden K meets weekly Thursdays for breakfast at Sprayberry’s on Bullsboro Drive.
