A Wednesday morning fire destroyed a single-family residence northeast of Thomas Crossroads in eastern Coweta County.
By the time firefighters with the Coweta County Fire Department arrived, the house was already about 50 percent engulfed, said Assistant Fire Chief Alan Smith. A retired couple was at home at the time, but escaped without injury.
It was the second fire within 24 hours where a house was destroyed by a fire in Coweta County. The latest fire occurred at 211 Hayden Lane, which is north of the Andrew Bailey Road ballfields.
More details will be in Thursday's print and digital editions of The Newnan Times-Herald.
