From STAFF REPORTS
Jessie Reese, daughter of Morgan and Jim Reese, recently was named vice president of the Georgia College Press Association.
Reese, a junior, is majoring in journalism with a writing minor at Georgia Southern University, where she is managing editor of the George-Anne student newspaper. At the GCPA Conference in Athens, the George-Anne was a top publication in the Four-Year Division-A category, winning first place in several photography categories and community service editorial, second place in editorial series, general excellence and advertising, and third place in website, and layout and design excellence.
Reese said she anticipates making big changes in the GCPA and looks forward to implementing her ideas along with the other board members. Reese’s goals are expanding the conference, integrating hands on learning methods and bringing more speakers.
“I’m excited about this new opportunity and look forward to implementing these new changes,” said Reese. “I hope to improve the GCPA conferences and the connection among collegiate newspapers in Georgia.”
Reese graduated in 2010 from Northgate, where she served as editor-in-chief of the Crimson Times her senior year and interned at The Newnan Times-Herald her junior and senior years.
