What's in the pantry?

Poking through the cupboard for something to munch on, I decided I was bored. Bored with all the usual stuff I usually put in my mouth. Probably much the same as anyone else, chicken (lots of chicken), burgers, steak (if we’re flush), potatoes, a few vegetables here and there, and a random cheese slice or two. Anyway, you get what I’m saying. I need something new, some new flavors.

I don’t suppose Andrew Zimmern of that TV show “Bizarre Foods” ever gets bored. He’s always trying something new and different. Course, he’s got to travel the world to do this. I just want to eat what’s in my kitchen.

I’m thinking maybe some bacon, and a Pop Tart. Bacon flavored Pop Tarts. Perfect.

That’s nowhere near as crazy as putting marshmellows and brown sugar on your sweet potatoes. That’s like putting syrup on your green beans. I don’t have pancakes, but I got a whole bottle of Aunt Jemima’s sitting on the shelf. I know I got some French cut green beans in there somewhere. Let’s give that a shot, too.

I got a can of them mandarin oranges, and there’s some tortillas.

It could be like a dessert. Orange tacos. Maybe add some Lucky Charms to get a little crunch.

I don’t know why I’m even complaining. My little 12-pound terrier mix can tear through a 30-pound bag of dog food week after week with nary a complaint. He prances and turns in circles, whines and gets all excited. Like he hasn’t eaten the exact same thing morning and night for about three years now. I can’t even face a leftover some days.

Well, all this talking food has got me thinking. I’m going back to the pantry with a whole new outlook on things.

The possibilities are endless, and I’m just getting started.
