From Staff Reports
Girl Scouts are rolling out a new package design this year for their beloved cookies. The boxes feature images of girls volunteering in the community, enjoying arts and sports and being entrepreneurial.
Coweta residents can be on the lookout for cookie booths starting the week of Feb. 11. Local troops are already taking orders.
Girls Scout cookies are $3.50 a box. Flavors include Thin Mints, Samoas, Dosidos, Trefoil, Tagalongs, and Savannah Smiles.
To find out where to buy cookies, www.gsgatl.org , click on the “cookie locator” and enter your zip code. You may also sign up for email notifications.
Girl Scout Cookies can also be used to make great desserts, main dishes and more.
This Mint Brownie uses crushed thin mint cookies and can be served with mint tea. The recipe is from Little Brownie Bakers.
1/2 box crushed Thin Mints Girl Scout Cookies
1 box favorite brownie mix
2 eggs (or 3 eggs for cake-like brownies)
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
Crush the Thin Mints into medium sized chunks. Mix all ingredients into a mixing bowl. Do not use an electric mixer - batter will be stiff. Spread the batter evenly in a greased baking pan (9x13x2-inch) pan. Bake in center of oven at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes. Allow to cool before cutting.
Yield: 6 servings.
