A northbound train running parallel to U.S. Highway 29 in north Coweta County clipped a tractor-trailer early Tuesday.
There were no injuries and the truck driver was able to return to the loading yard, said Georgia State Patrol Trooper Ross Buchan.
The wreck occurred around 6 a.m. as driver Barney Shrotshsire of Newnan, driving a Circle W Express, was on Johnston Circle crossing the train tracks, the trooper said.
“He said he didn’t see the train,” Buchan said. “He was just leaving with a load. The train clipped the rear end of the trailer and tore off the doors and tailgate.”
Shrotshire was charged with failure to yield, the trooper added.
