Sara Bryan put together 14 points and 17 rebounds while making a run at a potential triple-double as Trinity Christian’s girls basketball team earned a 44-29 Region 1-AAA win over The Weber School Tuesday on the road.
Bryan added six rebounds as the Lady Lions received contributions from seven scorers in a balanced effort. Ashley Caldwell added nine points and Alex Huber had six in the win for Trinity’s girls, now 3-6 overall and 2-1 in 1-AAA.
Julie Charbeneau, Skylar Lamb and Brandi Waters each had four points and Kaylee Grace added three in the win.
Trinity Christian's boys lost its game 57-30 despite nine points from both Spencer Bryan and Thiago D’Elia. Glen Whisby also had five in the loss.
Heritage School varsity splits games
The Heritage School’s basketball teams split games on Saturday at home against Region 1-AAA opponent Holy Spirit.
The Hawks stayed undefeated with an impressive 79-48 win behind 17 points from freshman Spencer Perry and 14 from senior Garrett Jones.
Perry finished 7 of 11 from the field and connected on 3 of 4 attempts from behind the arc as Heritage School (11-0, 3-0) used a 30-8 run in the second quarter to pull away.
Jones added three blocks and seven rebounds to his total. Brian McKinney also had 11 points in the victory.
Shooting woes early plagued the Lady Hawks in a 44-36 loss where The Heritage School’s girls managed just eight points by halftime. Lilly Smith led the Lady Hawks with 15 points on 5 of 10 shooting from 3-point range. Chase Parker added nine points, six rebounds and five steals in the loss.
Heritage School's junior varsity boys defeated Holy Spirit 51-34 behind 11 points from both Maddux Jeffreys and Caleb Woodruff. Luke Smith had 10 points and Rich Yancey eight.
In middle school play on Saturday, Heritage School swept Arlington Christian. The girls won 45-22 behind 16 points from Michaela Cushing and 14 from Jazmine Gainwell.
The boys won 43-23. Chase Evans led the Hawks with 11 points.
