In its first meeting of 2013, the Coweta County Board of Health will consider adoption of proposed regulations for tattoo artists and body piercing businesses.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 3:30 p.m. at the Health Department on Hospital Road in Newnan.
The State of Georgia is requiring county boards of health to develop rules and regulations for the permitting of body art/piercing establishments. Coweta’s proposed rules have been molded after Clarke County’s. The board postponed a vote on the new regulations last November to allow local tattoo artists and business owners a chance to research the proposal and provide written comment on any concerns.
The rules are designed to protect the health of those receiving tattoos, and those providing the service.
The Board of Health would also vote to set the permit fees for body art/ piercing providers, which would be separate from the county’s business license fee.
