Youth acting classes start on Monday

Newnan Theatre Company is offering an Academy of Theatre Arts in 2013 for youth ages 5 to 18.

The three levels of classes begin this Monday, Jan. 7, and will run for six weeks until Feb. 14.

In the program students will learn theater skills including choreography and vocal performance techniques.

Classes will meet Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The cost per student is $120 per session. There is a sibling discount of 10 percent off the regular session cost for additional children on any level. Each class level meets once a week for two hours.

Class levels are:

• Level 1 (meets Thursdays) - Ages 5 to 8: Beginning Musical Theatre Students will study the choreography and music from “The Wizard of OZ.”

• Level 2 (meets Mondays) - Ages 9 to 12: Intermediate Musical Theatre Students will learn choreography and vocal selections from “Hairspray.”

• Level 3 (meets Tuesdays) - Ages 13 to 18: Advanced Musical Theatre Students will study the directing and choreography style of Bob Fosse, including the musicals “Pippin” and “Cabaret.”

Additional sessions will begin on Feb. 25 running through April 11 and April 15 running through May 23.
