Piedmont Newnan Hospital will sponsor several blood drives in 2013.
The first is today and will be at the Summit Family YMCA from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The YMCA is located at 1765 E. Hwy. 34 in Newnan.
The other scheduled drives will be held at the Hospital on Poplar Road in Conference Room 2. The drives will be March 1, May 3, July 5, Sept. 6 and Nov. 1. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

COWETA ROSE GROWERS INVITED TO JOIN SOUTH METRO SOCIETY
The South Metro Rose Society will meet Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at The Heritage Bank at 440 N. Jeff Davis Drive in Fayetteville.
All Coweta and other area rose growers from novice to expert are invited to attend free of charge.
This month’s program features Master Rosarian Cindy Dale speaking on “Top Performing Roses for North Georgia.” Her colorful Power Point program will describe many varieties of garden roses that are the most hardy, disease resistant, and produce the most blooms in this part of the country.
Members will be encouraged to share their thoughts and add their favorites to the list.As usual, Master and Consulting Rosarians will be available to answer questions on any rose topic. For more information call 678-545-1990.
REGISTRATION OPEN FOR RUN FOR ANGELS
The Run for Angels and Chicken Q, the 11th annual event to benefit The Angel’s House, will be Feb. 2.
The event includes a 5K and 10K road race and 1 mile fun run in historic downtown Newnan. Runners may register online at www.theangelshouse.org .
Fun-run start time is 8:15 a.m., with the other races to follow. The 5K and 10K courses are Peachtree Road Race Qualifiers.
The run is the largest fundraiser of the year for Newnan’s shelter for children in foster care. New this year at the event will be a competition for the best “angelic” themed costume. Prizes will be awarded in the best child, adult and group categories.

The Chicken Q will be held at the First United Methodist Church with to-go plates available at 10:30 and sit-down dinners available at 11 a.m. Chicken Q tickets are $9 each and can be purchased on the web site.
