The Peachtree City Police Department officials say that the third annual Light Up the Night Toy Drive has been a resounding success.
The donations for the 2012 event were almost overwhelming, said spokesman Lt. Mark Brown. “The department would like to thank all those who contributed to this program. It is estimated that 86 children in Fayette County, 15 adults, and approximately 30 residents of Southland Nursing Home received these generous donations for Christmas,” he said.
Volunteers from the department, the Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.), Auxiliary Police Force, and several other organizations assisted with the collecting and wrapping of the toys and donations for families in need in the Fayette County community.
Capt. Stan Pye and Sgt. Kay Crider were the coordinators of the program.
