From STAFF REPORTS
Kidney Smart Classes will begin next year at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
The classes are part of DaVita Village Health’s new CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) patient education program, which will be held the second Wednesday of each month, starting in January. This program is comprised of one hour of core CKD educational content that addresses stage specific needs in the three distinct audience “paths”: (1) Early Stage CKD (2) Late Stage CKD (3) Care Partners.
The Kidney Smart program goals are to: Help newly-diagnosed CKD patients make better choices about lifestyle, diet, medication adherence and co-morbidity management; increase effectiveness of education by providing engaging multimedia tools, including medical animation, graphics and video; provide a warm, calming and supportive environment that addresses the needs of Early Stage Patients, late Stage Patients and Care Partners; and to provide a question and answer time for the class participants.
