From Staff Reports
Senoia kicks off the holiday season Dec. 1 with a parade and Christmas tree lighting, and the following weekend will hold the town’s annual Candlelight Tour of Homes.
“Light up Senoia” offers entertainment, Christmas music, a food court, the big parade, and, of course, Santa & Mrs. Claus. The Secret Santa’s workshop also is back for children to do early Christmas shopping.
Activities begin at 4 p.m. on stage at Travis Street & Main Street. The parade starts at 5:30 p.m. Grand marshal is Rutledge Wood, star of the television series “Top Gear,” along with his family. Santa will light the tree after the parade and stay to hear children’s wishes. Parents may bring their cameras.
For parade registration go to the DDA website at www.enjoysenoia.com or the city website at www.senoia.com and print an entry form. If you would like to sell baked goods for your church or civic group, contact Gail Downs at 770-599-9155 or Suzanne Helfman at 770-599-8182 for information and entry forms.
Senoia’s annual Candlelight Tour of Homes is Dec. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m., sponsored by the Senoia Downtown Development Authority.
The tour includes the Senoia United Methodist Church and six historic Senoia homes beautifully decorated for Christmas. The Chancel Choir of Senoia United Methodist will present mini-concerts at 5:15 and 7:30 p.m. The concerts are open to the public at no charge.
Tickets for the homes tour are $12 in advance or $15 the evening of the tour, and are available in downtown Senoia at Gail’s Antiques, Senoia Coffee & Café, Beyond the Door, Table Talk, and Second Hand Sam’s. They may also be purchased the evening of the event at the Senoia Welcome Center at 68 Main Street.
