Actor and filmmaker Corbin Bernsen has crafted a comedy for the whole family — “3 Day Test,” in which a frustrated father attempts to reconnect with his wife and children by disconnecting them from the world.

Distributed by EchoLight Studios, the film was made available on DVD starting Nov. 3. Bernsen, before he became a director, was an actor probably best known for his role on “LA Law.” He filmed scenes for “Grass Roots,” a 1992 television film based on a novel by Meriwether County native Stuart Woods, in Coweta County.

Bernsen is an Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated actor. His credits include “Psyche” on USA Network and the “Major League” films. Bernsen now makes his mark behind the camera as well — writing, producing and directing.

In “3 Day Test,” Martin Taylor has totally lost touch with his family. He has no clue who his teenage daughter’s friends are, why his son only communicates with an electronic sign outside his bedroom door, or why his youngest child only watches faith TV.

Convinced the family needs to reconnect, Martin surprises the wife and kids with a little experiment — he locks them in their own home for three days with no power, no heat, no running water and absolutely no contact with the world outside.

The sudden holiday “staycation” isn’t what the Taylors had in mind for the weekend, but they will have to team up to prove they can survive Dad’s wacky mission. With a heartfelt message and some persistence, one little member of the family helps put their priorities back in the pews, because they’ll need all the faith they have to get through their situation.

In the cast are George Newbern, well known as the son-in-law to be in “Father of the Bride” as Martin. Kevin Crowley plays Newbern’s character’s survivalist brother. Taylor Spreitler, who plays Newbern’s teenage daughter, in Bernsen’s words, will be “a force to reckon with” in the industry.

EchoLight Studios is the first vertically integrated Christian movie studio to offer production financing, marketing and distribution across all releasing platforms.
