No desire for American dream

A majority of Americans have lost the desires that used to be related to the American dream — ambition, aspirations, dreams, self reliance and personal accountability. Now, Americans would rather the government send them a check and food stamps and forego a nicer home and car and better education.

People who have either inherited wealth and continued to work to maintain it or have worked from the ground floor up and are wealthy or just comfortable are now vilified.

Women fought centuries ago for the right to vote, equality, freedom and liberty. Now they are more worried about whether the government will pay for their birth control or take away their right to have an abortion. Conservatives don’t want to take away birth control. They just don’t think taxpayers are responsible to pay for birth control. Further, if you read the Constitution the president cannot just walk in the Oval Office and with the swipe of a pen take away your abortion rights. I am positive a conservative president is going to be far more worried about his first actions being related to controlling the deficit or protecting this country and those who serve it.

Americans ignore that a president knew about the pending Benghazi attack and allowed four Americans to die with absolutely no defense. The president will apologize to nations that publicly express their hatred for America. He will bow to leaders that try to destroy us, and yet Americans are still willing to sacrifice their freedom and liberty and retain their right to birth control pills, abortions and a government check.

Whether one is pro choice or pro life, I really wonder if the current president would encourage one of his daughters to run out and get an abortion if faced with that very difficult and personal decision. Having a personal conviction against something doesn’t mean you run out and change the laws of the land.

I am sad because we have lost the American dream to laziness, dependency and women that just don’t understand what the women of yesterday wanted for us.
