Community Christian Church will mark a decade of service to the Newnan and Coweta community when church volunteers serve their 10th annual Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 22.

Last year more than 400 Community Christian volunteers started preparing the Thanksgiving feast on the Monday before Thanksgiving, and this year demand for meals is expected to keep volunteers busier than ever before.

Church officials say they want to make sure no Cowetan goes hungry on Thanksgiving, following the quote attributed to W.J. Cameron that says, “Thanksgiving, after all, is a word of action.”

Volunteers will cook and serve the dinner and clean up afterward.

Last year meals were served at Newnan High and Arnco-Sargent Elementary schools, and currently plans are to serve from those same locations. The meal is free and people may eat at the school or take plates home.

Traditional Thanksgiving favorites including turkey, stuffing, corn, sweet peas and pies will be on the menu.
