Coweta’s Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy has announced its 2012 holiday card fundraiser.
This year's Christmas card features a nostalgic scene of Santa and reindeer flying over the Parrot-Camp-Soucy House on Greenville Street with a snow-laden tree in the foreground. The card features the work of local painter Martin Pate, and was designed by M. Cole Design.
Proceeds from card sales will help the Ferst volunteers purchase books and distribute them to Coweta children enrolled in the program. Children between the ages of birth and five receive a book each month by mail. It costs the Foundation $28 per child each year.
Having books in the home is vital to being able to start school “on a level playing field,” said Janie Lore of the Ferst Foundation.
Cards are available for 1 for $5, 8 for $28 or 48 cards for $140. The 5x7 cards come with green envelopes and historical information on the Parrot-Camp-Soucy home on the back.
Commemorative three packs of cards from 2010, 2011 and this year are also available for $10 a pack.
For information on the card sales, call Lore at 770-253-9598. Cards will also be available at Scott’s Bookstore in downtown Newnan.
