Clestelle Dean Shoemake

On October 27, 2012, Clestelle Dean Shoemake, age 95, of Newnan slipped quietly in the loving arms of the Creator to whom she had dedicated her life so many years ago.

There, she joined her beloved husband Tommy Genarrh Shoemake and her two precious sons, Garland Shoemake and Sherwin Shoemake. It was a glad reunion, indeed.

Clestelle was born August 4, 1917 in Heard County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Joseph Green and Mollie Sarah Taylor Dean. She had been a devoted member of Whitesburg Christian Church. Like so many of her generation she found work in the textile mills in this area. Her true life’s work, though, was providing a nurturing home life for her husband and sons.

She is survived by her son, Danny Shoemake and his wife Sandra of Monroe, Georgia; daughters-in-law, Charlotte Shoemake and Shelby Shoemake. There is a large family of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street where the visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday afternoon October 28th between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be in our chapel on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 4:00 PM with Minister Barry Shoemake officiating.

Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mckoon.com .
