Presentation on Newnan Depot paver project Nov. 9

From Staff Reports

news@newnan.com

The Newnan city project to pave parking space adjacent to the Depot History Center on East Broad Street will be the focus of a presentation Nov. 9 for anyone interested in the approach to managing stormwater runoff.

The presentation/demonstration of the permeable interlocking concrete pavement system will be held at noon and lunch will be provided for attendees.

Especially invited are architects, engineers, government officials and anyone interested in this new approach to stormwater runoff and the challenges it presents to the community and the environment.

The presentation will be by representatives of Belgard, makers of the concrete pavers used in the recently-completed project. The work also extended the sidewalk upgrade installed when the city was expanding the East Broad streetscapes project east of the Newnan Court Square area several years ago.

The city of Newnan and Belgard will be hosting the demonstration on the many benefits of permeable pavers and to educate anyone interested in the system. As part of the demonstration, the city will apply large amounts of water to the parking lot so attendees can see the effectiveness of permeable pavers in slowing runoff.

Anyone wishing to attend should contact representative Brent Davis, design consultant for engineered solutions with Belgard Hardscapes. He may be reached by cell at 770-695-3951.
