Businesses both new and old, as well as a wide range of community organizations, were on hand for the annual Big Expo held Thursday.
The annual event, put on by the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, is an opportunity for networking, getting your name out there, and seeing what various businesses and organizations in Coweta County have to offer. It was held in the gym at the Summit Family YMCA on Highway 34 East.
“I think it’s a great way to network and find out a little bit about other members of the Chamber,” said Lisa Noah of Skin Cancer Specialists.
It was their second year exhibiting at the Big Expo. They were able to “find out about other businesses and give out our information to the community,” Noah said.
When she talks about skin cancer, it also gives Noah a chance to “tell people how to prevent skin cancer,” she said.
Across the aisle from Noah’s booth was one for Cancer Treatment Centers of America, which recently opened its metro-Atlanta location in Newnan.
Lindsey Dykes is on the “talent team,” which is what CTCA calls its human resources division. Dykes said she was getting a lot of comments from people interested in working for CTCA. “Everybody wants a job,” she said.
Dorita Smith has attended the expo for several years, representing the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency.
“I enjoy it every year,” she said. “We get a chance to meet the businesses in our area” and it’s a great networking opportunity, she said.
Dr. Jeremy Bishop of Keystone Chiropractic was at his first Big Expo. “I’m very impressed,” he said of the event.
“I’m impressed with the number of people coming through,” he added. And the networking is “excellent.”
He spent some time talking with Vicki Kaiser of Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Sarah Dick, Laura Waldrup and Leigh Cunningham represented West Georgia Technical College, and stayed busy telling people about the new Coweta campus that is under construction, discussing the various programs WGTC offers currently in Newnan and what will be at the new location.
“We’re very excited about the new campus,” Dick said. “We can’t wait for that.”
