A 17-year-old driver and a small child escaped serious injury after their car flipped on its side after a single-vehicle wreck Tuesday.

The accident happened around 4:45 p.m. on Highway 70 (Roscoe Road).

Tori Coppolino was southbound on the highway when she apparently went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and then crossed the centerline and struck the culvert on the other side of the road, according to Georgia State Patrol Senior Trooper Katie Thompson.

The car ended up on its side off the highway. Coppolino was taken by ground ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center, according to rescue workers. A 6 or 7 year-old girl, who was in a car seat, was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation, the trooper said.
