Ms. Wyndia Varese Shaw Wortham

Ms. Wyndia Varese Shaw Wortham, “Wyndi,” age 59, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, departed this life on April 4, 2012, in LaGrange, GA, after a short battle with lung cancer.

She was a graduate of Patterson Co-Op High School Class of 1971, Antioch College 1997 and Central Michigan University 2002. Wyndia had a passion for education and was in pursuit of her doctorate degree at the time of her death. Wyndia led her life with the desire to help others and to leave the world better than she found it.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Ashleigh Shaw, Dayton, OH; son, Kevin Shaw of LaGrange, GA; granddaughter, Deneigha “Chandler” Sims, Dayton, OH; two brothers, Willo Wortham, Houston, TX, and Terrence Wortham, Atlanta, GA; two sisters, B. Kaye Wilcox and Khrystal Wortham, both of Dayton, OH; special cousins, Loddie Shyne, Newnan, GA, and Stephanie Bouldin, Dayton, OH; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, April 13 from 6-8 p.m. at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home, 168 Greenville St., Newnan, GA. Remains placed in state 9:30 a.m.

Funeral services 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1109 E. 10th St., West Point, GA. Rev. W.T. Edmondson pastor/ eulogist. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan, GA.

A memorial service will be held in Dayton, OH, on Saturday, April 21, Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 2067 N. Gettysburg Ave., at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to The American Cancer Society, Lung Cancer Research.
