Will Rogers, the great humorist and entertainer of years ago, used to say, "All I know is what I read in the newspapers."
His great talent was he read them and made wonderfully amusing and insightful comments reprinted and quoted all over the world.
I've found in my own experience that many news items suggest something that could be seen as amusing.
"In Oregon, police reported a similar incident to one that recently took place in Newnan: They responded to a complaint that a resident of a small apartment was keeping 75 cats."
With all that feline company, the occupant hardly had, as they say, "room to cuss a cat."
.....
"Wife Calls Police When Husband Won't Get Rid of Pet Alligator."
I guess all three of them, wife, husband and gator, just sat around all day "snapping" at each other.
.....
"A Massachusetts dentist pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud for using paper clips instead of stainless steel posts in root canals."
Apparently, in this scheme, both the patient and government were "clipped."
.....
"In Mexico City, a medic met a helicopter delivering a heart for a transplant, stumbled while rushing back to the operating room, the lid came off the cooler and the heart fell out."
Fortunately, it was safely retrieved, returned to the cooler, and taken to the waiting surgeons who successfully completed the transplant.
There is nothing like having sure-footed surgeons who "know how to stay on their feet."
.....
News from England: "London's Big Ben is leaning and Parliament may slip into River Thames."
Have you noticed? Many things connected with government are leaning too far in the wrong direction.
