Looks like Christmas is earlier every year

Perhaps we need to add a few well chosen words to the popular yuletide song that goes: “It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas.”

Something that offers the warning, “It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas Earlier Every Year.”

Christmas preparation and shopping are arriving sooner every year -- so soon they may, in some cases, precede the September observance of Labor Day.

And who knows?

There may come a time when the Christmas shopping emphasis not only overshadows Labor Day, but goes back beyond that to the point where the ladies can combine both their Easter and Christmas shopping.

I can see the signs now adorning various stores: “Attention shoppers! There are only 240 shopping days remaining until Christmas. Get with it!”

I know some men take a rather dim view of shopping and pre-Christmas activities, but I am not one of them.

I love Christmas. It is the most wonderful time of the year, The marvelous music, the beautiful decorations, and let us not forget the joy of shopping, not for ourselves, but for that special someone: A friend, loved one, close relative or needy person.

Christmas is special because we think not so much of self, but of others, discovering once again the Biblical truth: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
