If an individual chooses to listen to radio talk host Glenn Beck as their source for political innuendo, so be it. But let's state some facts about the statement made by Director Anita Dunn, White House Communication office.
The quote she used by Mao Tse-tung was a quote written in an article from the 1980s by late Republican strategist Harvey Leroy "Lee" Atwater.
Lee Atwater was a consultant and strategist for the Republican party and an adviser to former Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. He was the chairman of the Republican National Committee.
As for quoting former Chairman Mao Tse-tung, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, in 1995 during a roll call, quoted Mao, "War is politics with blood, politics is war without blood."
Former presidential adviser Karl Rove wrote in a December 2008 Wall Street Journal op-ed piece that President Bush "encouraged me to read Mao biography."
And let's not forget, former presidential candidate Sen. John McCain quoted Mao twice during the campaign. First during a political rally in San Antonio, Tex., and during an interview on "The Daily Show" in May 2008.
Take the blinders off, don't let a talk show host lead you down a path.
