Why I support John McCain has nothing to do with his race. It has to do with my core values and beliefs. I am a moderate, but the Republican Party is way more in line with my beliefs than the Democrats.
I believe in less government, not more. I believe in less tax, not more. I do not believe in government-run health care (socialism). We have enough things the government is already in charge of; we do not need more.
If you think government-run health care is a good idea, talk to people from the UK or Canada and you might change your mind. I am currently uninsured, and I do not think it is the government's place to force everyone to pay higher taxes for me to have coverage.
I know the health care system, especially insurance, needs work, but my opinion is that socialized medicine is not the answer. Just look at how we've done with welfare and social security. We already pay enough taxes for people who will not or do not work to get welfare, food stamps and health care, including illegal aliens.
I am currently unemployed due to illness, but have been denied the benefits I have paid. Others I know have a drug problem, or are just lazy, and get plenty from the government because they have kids.
There are people who deserve help -- people who are trying to help themselves, but it is obvious the system is very flawed. Do we really want to put the government in charge of our health care? I do not want to vote for a candidate that wants to take from my family to give to someone else. I already give to charity.
