Christmas story: God so loved the world

I love Christmas. It is the season of joy, hope and love.

Christmas music, in all its beauty, can inspire and lift me to great joy and its message inspires me.

Luke 2:IO, 11 reads: "And the angel said, 'Fear not; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day a Savior who is Christ the Lord.'"

There follows in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave His only son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

God so loved is the heart of Christmas. I like the story of the father who had settled into his easy chair after supper to read his newspaper.

About the time he began reading, his small son ran and jumped into his father's lap and said: "Daddy, I love you!"

His father straightened out his newspaper and placidly said, "I love you, too," and turned back to his paper.

The same thing happened again.

The boy jumped into his Dad's lap and exclaimed, "Daddy, I love you!"

The father replied with even less enthusiasm, "I love you, too."

A short time passed. The scene was repeated. Now irritated, the father said, "Son, I told you that I love you."

The boy cried out, "Yes, but daddy, I love you so much I just have to do something about it!"

God so loved us He had to do something about it. And may all who love God and others be moved this Christmas to do something about it.
