I did not watch the Miss USA pageant. Turning on the TV the morning after, I noticed Miss California, Carrie Prejean, was being chastised by the media for the answer she gave during the question and answer segment.
When asked if she believed in gay marriage, Miss California said, "I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman." The media exploded calling Miss California everything from backwoods to a homophobe.
While I disagree with President Obama's view this is not a Christian country, I do believe that many desperately want Christians to believe this and give up. Christians are accustomed to turning the other cheek and allowing the bully to throw a few sucker punches. Many have witnessed how quiet Christians get during adversity. It now seems that Christians need their own Tea Party so to find their voices again.
Why is it when Christians want to share their thoughts and beliefs, they are shut down by many including federal, state and local governments while also being considered bigots, narrow minded and ignorant? At the same time, homosexuals not only want but demand everyone to be open to their thoughts and beliefs while being accepting of the homosexual agenda and lifestyle. In many cases, that same agenda is supported by the same government agencies and go as far as to change the definition of something defined by God.
If Christians are to be accepted, then the Christian voice must be heard, as clearly, and as loudly as the opposition.
I applaud Miss California for speaking her heart, knowing that it would more than likely cost her the crown. I'm proud to see that she has her priorities in order.
