A special 'star' for Newnan's biggest star of country music

Editorial

Newnan's most famous country music singer Alan Jackson is no stranger when it comes to receiving awards. His music has catapulted him to superstar status in the field of county music. He has been honored wherever he goes.

This month Jackson has been selected to receive a most special "star" status in 2010. That's when his "star" will be placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with the names of thousands of other stars in the entertainment business.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame which runs west on Hollywood Boulevard and north and south on Vine Street in the California mecca for entertainment is one of the most famous and most prestigious entertainment recognitions in the world. The Walk of Fame's first members were selected in 1958 and each year dozens of "stars" have been added. Today, if you walked the entire stretch of the Walk of Fame, it would be a three and a half mile journey.

All of Newnan and Coweta County are proud of the achievements of Alan Jackson. He has brought tremendous recognition to his hometown, and he has been especially loyal to this place he calls home.

We congratulate him on this deserving recognition. The next time we get to Hollywood we all need to look up Alan Jackson's "star."
