A look back at the highs and lows of the past week:

RAVE: Northgate Lady Vikings soccer team - it is indeed your time. STATE CHAMPS!

RANT: Dr. Laurie Barron is leaving us. And for Montana no less. We hope the fly fishing is great. But we will miss you.

RAVE: We always love it when a local business gets a top international award. Toyota of Newnan just won the 2012 Toyota President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement.

RAVE: Mike Fitzpatrick Ford Lincoln Mercury held a recent test drive to support CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocates. Twenty dollars went for every car test driven. Thanks for your community support.

RAVE: To all the participants in the recent Special Needs Game. We salute the incredible athletes and all the volunteers who helped make it happen.

RANT: Four students at Madras Middle School - eighth graders - were busted for having prescription drugs at school. One brought them and sold to the others. This is not harmless. Parents, pay attention to your medication, and if your child needs medication, make sure the school nurses handle it, not the students. 

RAVE: The recent Moms Run This Town event netted $30,000 for victims of the Boston bombing. The group made up T-shirts with the words “Never Forget Boston.” Tragedy can strike anywhere. Thank you for doing your part to help out those injured in the blast.

RAVE: Addison Smith is donating to Save Homeless Veterans for the entire month of May. The donations come from those who buy new heating or air conditioning systems, as well as repairs on plumbing, heating and cooling systems.

RAVE: The Newnan Centre, fraught with construction delays for more than a year after the contractor went out of business, is ready to open doors. Next month the multi-use facility off Lower Fayetteville Road will hold an open house. This is a major achievement for the city of Newnan and the entire county, and we hope residents and businesses will take advantage of this incredible complex.

RANT: Please do not relieve yourself on train tracks. And if you can’t hear the train coming, either your radio is on way too loud or you’re drinking/smoking something you shouldn’t be.

RAVE: It’s graduation time for our high school seniors this week. Enjoy it. Cherish this time. Please don’t do any dumb prank that will prevent you from getting your hard-earned diploma.
