Sound Off - Sunday, May 12

More guns? Three million guns in America have not prevented any of the evil acts of late. What good does anybody think more guns is going to make?

.......................

Goodbye, Dr. Barron: Smokey Road Middle School will be a different place now that the time has come for Dr. Barron to move on. I hope the new principal takes the reins and makes the teachers more accountable based on performance, require them to communicate with parents, and put the focus back on the students and off the accomplishments of the staff. A school is there to recognize and motivate students not paid staff so they can further their career.

.......................

Get the facts: The investigator in the Gillespie case clearly stated he should not get jail time. The D.A., when questioned, refused to state an amount of jail time he should get. Somebody needs to clean out their ears.

.......................

Recall:  Will someone, anyone, please remove the mayor and council of Grantville from their posts? They can’t even get along enough to hold a conversation in person and have now resorted to using “Letters to the Editor” as their communication. They are a joke and are representing the people of Grantville poorly. If the residents there re-elect these people, I will lose all hope in the democratic political process.

.......................

So proud: ECHS Marine ROTC service award dinner. Great group of good young men and proud parents ... You go, guys.

.......................

Seriously? Garbage collectors are not required to have a degree or required to shell out money for continuing education each summer. Your comment is ridiculous.

.......................

Armed and ready: Iraq told the world they had WMDs and had demonstrated their willingness to use them to kill a thousand Kurds. President Bush wasn’t alone in his belief that Iraq was armed with WMDs.

.......................

Just once: George W. Bush kept us safe - except for that one time.

.......................

Are you kidding me? You would never print a racial rant with the “N” word but you publish the racial “White Cracker Christian” rant. Racism is a two-way street.

.......................

Just wondering: If Caucasian people had a White Awareness Pageant, would we be racist? Just wondering.

.......................

Speed traps: Does the Newnan Police Dept. realize that the county and the GSP are taking money away from them when they are patrolling the by-pass speedtrap or are they just taking turns?

.......................

Too expensive: Landlords should be ashamed for the sky-high rental homes in Coweta County. Check your neighboring cities’ rent prices. You should pray [Section 8] never ceases.

.......................

History repeats: After every act of terror we are told we should not judge all Muslims based on the actions of a few. Isn’t it time the 80 million responsible gun owners in America get the same treatment? Disarming the population is always the first step. Do your own research. History always repeats itself, if you don’t learn from it. I’m tired of big-city politicans thinking they know what’s best.

.......................

Perfect logic: When the level of violence that America wields around the globe is fully considered, is there any wonder that her weakest citizens would imitate that same destructive trait? “Take dead aim.” Peace.

.......................

Gun worshippers: I can’t help but LOL at all the gun worshipers who can figure no other way to protect freedom than at the muzzle end of some firearm. Feel a little uncomfortable? Shoot, don’t ask no questions! Standing my ground, boy.

.......................

We need more guns: Like a hole in the head. With people being gunned down everyday, one would think “Enough killing already.” The reason crime is so rampant is because it provides jobs for the prison industrial complex and there’s an economic ravine between the haves and the have-nots.

.......................

Bless Miss Scott: Earlene Scott is a treasure in Newnan! Her quaint, independent bookstore survived the mega-bookstores and the online bookstores because of her service and her dedication. She is one of the greatest people I have ever known! The closing of her store is a sad thing for our community. But she deserves some time to read books herself. Best wishes.

.......................

Ignorance: Those of you talking about Kyle Gillespie really just need to stop! You have no knowledge on this case or what really happened. If you did, you would be singing a different tune. If the church backed him it is because they knew what really happened and believed he did not deserve the charges he was facing. You have no clue what you are speaking about, and if you did, you’d agree with what he was given.

.......................

Go Harley: I got to meet Harley the Beagle after his performance at the Relay for Life. That is one smart and cool “beagle.” He can ride, smile, and boy can he eat miniature chili dogs.

.......................

Free lunch? Coweta County Schools face budget crunch, says school administrators. How about eliminating “free” lunches for all janitors at over $300,000.00 to property taxpayers. How and why did this program ever start without taxpayers knowing of it?
