Sound Off

Retaliation: There is nothing more I would like to do than turn in people I know who are selling drugs. But every time I read an article in the paper, the story always ends with identifying how the police made the arrest by vaguely mentioning how they found out who was selling the drugs. Ever heard of retaliation?

Vegan for Martin Luther King? Seriously? Humans have been carnivores since cavemen days. Vegan is an unnatural diet when meat is available. I love ham, sausages, ribs, steak, chicken, shrimp, fish, milk, cheese, butter, eggs, and ice cream. I have no intention of giving them up for anyone.

Pay your own bill: To the liberal who said to see how conservatives act when their electricity is cut off: We conservatives pay our bills and yours because you can't pay them because you are lazy and won’t work.

Hot air: More sound and fury from the Left signifying extra nothing. Now they don't want opposing views printed. Imagine that, a segregated Sound Off. The truth will make you free. It's a new day, Liberal. Relax, take a number.

What’s racist? I have yet to see The Newnan Times-Herald print anything racist against blacks. So the argument about that is dead in the water. All liberals know to do is say it’s racism or blame George Bush, or both. Liberal blacks kept the GOP black senator from speaking at the MLK ceremony because you try to stifle opposing views.

You miss it, 2: The president's opponents are so blinded by what they hear, they can't see the truth.

Peace prize: If the USA strikes Syria, does this mean that President Obama will have to give back his Nobel Peace Prize? Remember, he was given the award not for what he had done, but for what he would do in the future.

Change the story: Evidently, according to the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nick Tatters, the father should not have killed the fatted calf and served it when his prodigal son returned.

We do buy American: Most Korean, Japanese, and German cars are made in this country by American workers, so we are buying American and providing jobs for Americans. Until recently, all cell phones were made in China, leaving us no choice. Know what you're talking about before you judge shopping habits.

Is it really race? If race is the dominant issue for most whites, why is it always the blacks bringing it up? Seems like race is the only issue for blacks. Open your eyes. There's more color in life than just black and white.

I’m sorry: Being a white conservative, I think I should offer an apology. I apologize for tutoring children for free, working in a feeding ministry, helping in the civil rights movement as a teenager, fighting the local school system on behalf of the poor children in Fairmount Elementary, running for the school board, believing Martin Luther King Jr. in that the content of one’s character is what matters, etc.

Hmm: Wonder why if the school colors at ECHS are purple and gold why the band chose to go to basically black and gray uniforms. Nope, don't like it. I like the old uniforms.

Clean it up: I'll bet if they named a street for Alan Jackson it would be a lot more impressive than Wadsworth Alley. I'm sure they would at least remove the garbage and trash or, heaven forbid, not put the sign directly over the garbage pails. God bless you, Mr. Wadsworth, you and your music deserve better than that.

I don’t get it: I don't understand why we have black beauty pageants, black coalition of mayors, etc. Blacks are free to be affiliated with any organization. It appears to me that having these things just keeps racism alive. I don't recall seeing an organization named “white” this or that. I only wonder why this is needed in today’s world.

Surreal Congress: never in my 40 years as a voter has any Congress been this dysfunctional. With a mistaken focus of limiting Obama to one term having failed, it now has nothing to offer but impeachment and repealing Obamacare. The GOP has given itself a vasectomy, and no leadership with enough dignity to admit the errors of its ways. Can we say "in denial," boys and girls?
