Sound Off

Black newsletter: Race is the dominant issue for many whites in this county. Snide, veiled and prejudiced comments have graced these pages for decades. So why does some well-deserved "push back" cause such threatening and bullyish comments? It's a two-way street. Let's meet and debate the race problem. Hot air: More sound and fury from the Right signifying extra nothing. Now they don't want opposing views printed. Imagine that, a segregated Sound Off. The truth will make you free. It's a new day, brother. Relax, take a number.

More right-wing blather: It is totally entertaining the way "thin-skinned" conservatives believe they are independent of any opposing group. Cut off the electrical power in their neighborhood and watch how easily compromise comes then. Water to wash down that crow?

Disabled? I went to a store off Bullsboro and saw a person sitting in the passenger seat of a new SUV, engine running, reading a book and parked in a handicapped spot. The SUV didn't display a disabled tag or hanger. Off in the distance was an elderly man assisting his severely-handicapped son with a wheelchair. Does fat and lazy qualify for a disabled permit?

How to read: How many Atlanta TV newscasters does it take to read a sentence on the news? Apparently, at least two.

Predicting crime: The Atlanta Police Department has computer software that can predict a crime before it happens 96 percent of the time. I can predict a crime in Newnan 100 percent of the time and the exact time. It is the fire hydrant on Nimmons Street Monday-Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Check it out.

To Richard Morris: If the EPA "receded" on your son's company's need to widen the culvert, what's the problem? Regarding the "bird houses" [nests?] and bats: we must protect ecosystems. And people in wheelchairs have a right to access, even if it is an uphill grade. Right-wing radicals only talk about doing away with regulations, not fixing them. (Dennis Thompson)

Where are they? Strange that the liberal media is so quiet when black youths shoot and kill an innocent jogger or a baby in a stroller or beat to death a WWII veteran. Where's the outrage from Eric Holder or President Obama or Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

Re: "Vacation Time": During the same time period during their terms of office, Obama took 14 vacations lasting 95 days, Clinton took 11 vacations for 84 days, Reagan took 29 vacations for 180 days (almost half a year), and George W. Bush took 50 vacations for 323 days (almost one full year.) By the end of his second term, Bush had spent a total of 967 days on vacation — 32% of his time in office.

Red or blue: To the person that said democratic states lead in economic growth: Better check your stats again. GOP states lead all the states in economic growth and jobs.

Socialism: Democrats, be careful what you ask for. If you would investigate socialism, you might realize you don't want that after all. Simply look at Russia, North Korea, and China. That is the direction Obama and the Democratic party are leading us. Do you really want to go there?

Mr. Crosby: I have some information for you. Our politicians are called lawmakers for a reason.
