ObamaCare is a complete failure

Earlier this month, the White House announced they would delay by one year the ObamaCare requirement that employers with more than 50 full-time workers offer access to health insurance to their employees.

As passed, the law requires employers begin to offer this insurance beginning January 1, 2014. The White House has not delayed the individual mandate that every American purchase government-approved health insurance … even though they argued at the time the law passed that both were necessary to work together.

On top of that, they have announced the IRS is going to rely on 'self-reporting' and not verify that those seeking subsidies under ObamaCare fall within the proper income level. This will open a huge loophole to allow people of all income levels to qualify for huge subsidies under ObamaCare – which the government can't afford.

Essentially, the Obama Administration is admitting ObamaCare is so complex, it can't actually implement it. It is about time that the Obama Administration realizes what House Republicans and the majority of Americans have been saying: this law will create more uncertainty and kill jobs at a time when employers are looking for any sort of stability.

First, it's unclear if the president actually has the legal authority to delay this portion of the bill without approval from Congress. Just because we are used to seeing the Obama Administration completely disregard the law, that doesn't mean their actions are legal. This Administration cannot continue to decide what laws or parts of laws it wants to enforce.

Instead of making these arbitrary decisions, the White House needs to stop the implementation of the entire law. Now don't get me wrong. I can support any delay of this horrible law. But with this announcement, the Obama Administration has only given businesses what they deserve by delaying their mandate, while hanging millions of Americans out to dry by demanding they follow through with the individual mandate.

Whether the Obama Administration is ready to admit it or not, ObamaCare is a complete failure. It's too complex, too expensive, and too large to actually implement. Now is the time for them to admit their mistake and join House Republicans in repealing ObamaCare and replacing it with real health care reform.
