Prestigious rating for our Chamber

There has been a positive buzz around the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce this week as the chamber received the prestigious five-star accreditation rating, one of the few chambers to earn this top recognition.

The accreditation process is comprehensive and makes the organization look at every aspect of the chamber – financial stability, internal staffing and services to members.

We asked Chamber President Candace Boothby what this rating means for the chamber, its members and the community.

She said, “Going through the process is more valuable than actually receiving the designation because of what we learn about the organization as a part of the application process. Going through the process makes a much stronger organization with an increased ability to deliver and change direction if needed based on the changing environment around us. Being accredited may not directly add value to our members or mean anything to members, but it results in improvements that are put into place as a result of the process. The goals and strategies in our plans developed as a part of the accreditation process hold our feet to the fire, keep our focus on continuous improvement and make us accountable.”

In addition this top five-star designation adds value for the chamber president and staff. It helps the chamber gain recognition from its peers and gain credibility and respect in chamber world — regional, state, national.

People seek out five-star accredited chambers, said Boothby.

We salute the chamber staff, its volunteer leaders and all chamber members on this prestigious designation. The Newnan-Coweta Chamber has a branding campaign called “Prosperity’s Front Door.” That branding campaign proclaims: “As the front door to prosperity, Coweta County is the ultimate destination to grow your business and your family.”

Indeed.
