Oil is discovered on church yard

Looking at some interesting events, I came across a news story that revealed that an oil well was discovered on a church yard in Ohio.
Any way you look at this, it has to be more than “pennies from heaven.”
This is a new twist. Most churches break ground and go into debt. Here is one that broke ground, came out of debt and into big money.
Certain interpretations of scripture may be revised, such as: “Thou preparest an oil well before me in the presence of my enemies and my friends. My cup runs over with oil.”
Certain long-standing practices are likely to be changed. The attendance report will go something like this: “200 in Sunday School, 150 to attend church, and 300 in attendance at the oil well.”
No doubt, the church members will gain more than a little satisfaction in knowing “their heads are anointed with oil and their petroleum barrels continue to run over.”
Even new members of the congregation may be only too glad to adopt as their motto the words: “Oily to bed, oily to rise makes you wealthy from your toes to your eyes.”
There was one disturbing problem.

One week after it was declared that the church had struck oil on its property, all the old members were crowded out by the “sudden interest” of hundreds of others who desired to join this thriving, drilling, “oily church.”

Still, from the preacher’s standpoint, this could prove to be a most unusual situation.

Think of it: Come what may, there will always be “an abundant supply of oil to pour on troubled waters.”
