Why is our president lying?

I find it both humorous yet dismally ironic that our media has spent so much time discussing the deceptions of both Lance Armstrong and the Norte Dame football player while there is a greater lie being perpetrated by the president of the United States.
It began on Sept. 11, 2012, when he said al Queda was on the run, devastated by his policies. Then we have Benghazi, and now we know the truth about North Africa, and that al Qaeda is in control of an area as large as our second largest state of Texas. On the run? Yes, to kill us and any other human being who disagrees with their insane religious beliefs.
Americans, if you believe that one, you also believe that the Cold War is over. If it is over, why is Russia still backing a murderer in Syria who is involved with the North Koreans, Iran, et cetera?
Why is our president lying to us? Could it be that if he can convince us that we are safe, he can easily cut the defense budget and send our Navy back to the level it was at before World War I? So that he can use the money for his domestic projects to keep buying votes for keeping his party in office?
Or could it be his goal is to destroy this country altogether? Our Navy is the only reason that we are able to defend this country in the Middle East and keep the enemy from our shores.
