Paid advertisement on the front page

When you looked at the front page of Wednesday’s Newnan Times-Herald, you probably noticed a new look at the bottom of the page. There was a paid advertisement across the front for Clayton State University’s MBA Program.
Beginning this week, The Newnan Times-Herald is joining thousands of other newspapers across the country in allowing advertisers to buy an advertisement across the bottom of the front page. There had long been a tradition with most newspapers that they did not publish paid ads on the front page. That page was designated for the top news of the day.
The tradition has changed in recent years as newspapers have listened to advertisers who have said they would like the opportunity to place an ad on the front page. The change has helped advertisers get their message to readers in a choice front page space, and at the same time it has helped newspapers get revenue at a time when newspaper revenue has been declining.
These ads have been popular in newspapers across Georgia and other areas. So the Newnan newspaper is breaking with its tradition and will offer advertisers this prime space -- one ad a day on the front page -- to get their advertising message to our readers.
In addition to offering an ad on the front page, we also will be offering similar ad space on some of our other section pages that previously contained no advertising. These pages include the Close-Up section page, the Sports page, Focus on Education, Food, Health and Religion.

Again, this change will offer advertisers an opportunity to have their messages on prime content pages in the newspaper. Any advertiser who is interested in more information about these advertising opportunities should call Colleen Mitchell, our sales and marketing director, at 770-253-1576.

As always, we appreciate the support of our readers and our advertisers. Our goal continues to be the number one source of local news, information and advertising about the people, places and things in Coweta County.
