Guns not the problem
I have heard enough of the outright false statements put out by haters of the NRA. The day of the Connecticut shooting, nearly 90 million legal law abiding firearm owners did not kill anyone.The killer in Connecticut who was known to have mental issues was trained by his mother on how to use guns and even had videos games that are used by the military to train shooters. Was that the fault of the NRA, because his mother used poor judgment in training and making available, guns which cost her life and the lives at the Connecticut school?
The media and others like to call semi-automatic guns assault weapons or machine guns. They claim these civilian semi-automatic firearms are used by the military. Also, they perpetuate the dangerous notion that one more gun ban or one more law imposed on peaceful, lawful people will protect us where 20,000 others have failed.
The NRA, as an organization, has been providing firearms training, competition and safety programs since its inception in 1871.The NRA’s Law Enforcement Division is also home to the Eddie Eagle Gun Safe Program. Since its inception in 1988, the Eddie Eagle Gun Safe Program has reached more than 26 million children with its lifesaving message of Stop, Don’t Touch, Leave the Area and Tell an Adult.
Since 1970, 1,600 children have been killed either getting off or on school buses and in accidents. That is more than 50 a year. Are we going to ban school buses? Did the media call on a ban of diesel fuel and fertilizer that was used to kill 168 people including 16 infants in Oklahoma City?
Thanks to the entertainment industry, a child growing up in America witnesses 16,000 murders and 200,000 acts of violence by the time he or she reaches the age of 18. There is even a video called Kindergarten Killers. It’s been online for 10 years.
I am a lifetime member of the NRA and proud of it.
My family has served in every branch of the military and the Coast Guard since World War II.
We all were taught how to handle guns safely from a young age. Guns are not the problem. People are.
