Deadline nearing for photo contest

Each December, one of The Newnan Times-Herald’s favorite reader participation projects is our Christmas photo contest.
Again this year, the newspaper asks readers to submit their best Christmas photo. Deadline is Dec. 14. Contest judge will select first, second and third place winners. The first place winner will receive $100 from the newspaper. Second place winner will get $50 and the third place winner $25. Judge will be the winner of the 2011 contest.
Here are the rules:
— The photograph must have been taken by the person submitting it. No copyrighted photographs can be used. If the photograph includes people, it is preferred that small groups — three or less — are in the picture. The people in the photographs must be identified.
— Your photographs from the current holiday season are preferred. Photographs from the 2011 Christmas are acceptable. Older photographs are not. Entries must depict scenes in Coweta or Coweta residents. Only one entry per household.
— Photographs should be color or black-and-white prints made from a 35 millimeter negative, or if a digital camera is used, they must be of good quality and a printout must be submitted for visual judging. In addition to the printed version of a digital picture, the image should either be included on a disk or the original unretouched “jpeg” e-mailed to winston@newnan.com and marked “Christmas contest.” Photographs cannot be returned, so be sure to bring a duplicate.

— Entries may be left at The Newnan Times-Herald office, 16 Jefferson St., Newnan, through Dec. 14 at noon or at the front desk at Canongate Elementary School in north Coweta through noon Dec. 13.

We encourage all our readers to enter the contest. Send us your favorite Christmas photo. We will publish the winning photos and honorable mention winners in the Dec. 23 edition of The Newnan Times-Herald.
