Vote against charter school amendment

I hope by now everyone has educated themselves regarding the charter school amendment and will vote against it. A vote against this amendment is not a vote against charter schools.
It is a vote against a separate charter school system funded and controlled by the state that bypasses local school boards.
Local school boards will still have the power to approve charter schools, such as our great Central Educational Center (CEC).
A charter school should supplement or complement our local schools not be a de facto private school that competes with them. A charter school dedicated to students talented in science, math, music, art or the performing arts could be a welcome addition to our school system.
In Coweta County we have a very competent school board and administration who are very capable in determining what is best for our students and how to best spend our tax money. Our county school board is elected by us, the taxpayers and, by the way, they voluntarily work without pay.
