Reed and president
The $872 billion stimulus bill passed in 2009 by the Democratic controlled Congress gave Atlanta enough money to hire 50 police officers and 75 firefighters. Because it was stimulus money, does that make them full-time, temporary employees?Possibly so, because the sequestration cuts may cause their termination. Mayor Kasim Reed and some other mayors must think so, because they are lobbying real hard to keep the federal money flowing.
If Atlanta needs these and more police officers and firefighters, why doesn’t Mayor Reed make the case for them with his constituents instead of trying to ingratiate himself with President Obama by seeming to constantly appear on his behalf on all the Sunday talk shows?
